- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆The place is nice, the music was okay, but the place was dead on a friday night when they were having an event. I would only go for their popular events (Halloween especially)By Jenny De Medeiros, May 17, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆Attracts a younger demographic. Beautiful, spacious, and modern. An older crowd for people over the age of 45 go next door to The Flying Dog. My complaint is the music is too loud. If Pearl lowered the base so it doesn't monopolize the music I would give the club another star. Another drawback is gets busy after midnight. Not good for people who are not night owls, but great for those who are.By fallblossom, May 03, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆This establishment can easily be summed up into one word: 'elegant'. This will be an on going review of the Pear Nightclub. This includes, but is not limited to, its establishment, staff, and entertainment. Establishment - The Entrance: When you arrive, you'll notice a large parking lot that rarely finds itself at capacity. As you proceed into Pearl, you'll be met with a velvet rope leading to a serious, but polite, security guard. After following their mandate, you'll move forward to enter into a spacious reception area. Admission averages at $5.00 but is usually free before 11:00 PM. Before proceeding further, you'll be met with additional security ready to frisk you for weapons -- a tad invasive, but demonstrates good security for the safety and well-being of Pearl's patrons. Establishment - The Layout: Moving on, it's time to welcome you to Pearl Nightclub! Upon entering it's "Pearly" gates, you'll notice the dance floor and the bar counters to your left. On the right, you'll find the coat check, ATM's and storage lockers. Continuing to the dance floor and bars, you'll notice that the establishment really opens up and is quite large, easily able to accommodate 300 - 500 people comfortably. Probably more but that might begin to make things uncomfortable. Surrounding the dance floor, and if memory serves me right, you'll find 6 bars. One of those bars is secluded to the point that it essentially becomes its own environment, much like a sports bar, it's encased in televisions and pool tables. An excellent getaway if you're not feeling the club scene. Beyond the enclosed sports bar, is the 'Purple Room' and bathrooms. Now the Purple Room wasn't set up for anything while I was visiting but it's also encased in its own environment and holds another bar. Establishment - The Bathrooms: Not much can be said, but you can easily judge the character of any establishment based on the condition of their bathrooms. With that being said, Pearl's bathrooms are spaciously adequate with a touch of a contemporary design. I can't say much about the women's bathroom but I imagine it's identical, with more stalls and less urinals. Just remember, no drinks allowed! Establishment - VIP Sections: Backtracking from the Purple Room & Sports Bar, you may notice booths enclosed in either open or closed veils. These are the VIP Rooms which accommodate those either celebrating an occasion or have reserved bottle service. Well furnished, spacious, and certain to meet many expectations. Establishment - Dance Floor: The dance floor is fantastic. Large and open with a few encasing banisters, it's sure to meet your expectations. Leading the dance floor is the DJ booth, mixing it up and keeping the party going. To top it off, you have a fantastic array of lights that are in sequence with the music, creating a very dynamic and exciting concert like experience. Establishment - Smoking Section: It has heating lamps and is quite narrow with no view of much of anything. It's a missed opportunity for something that could've put the cherry on the cake. Oh well. Staff - Security: In my experience, security has been assertive, coordinated, polite, and informative. Staff - Bartenders: Prompt, courteous, clean, and social -- when appropriate. Staff - Management: Engaged, visible, and professional. Entertainment - Music: The music tends to vary based on the DJ for the night. Typically you can expect a mix of pop, hip-hop, edm, and r&b. Entertainment - Pool Tables: Pretty strait forward. They have at least half a dozen pool tables. I believe it's $2.00 per game. Entertainment - Sports: You'll find the televisions will typically broadcast sports games going on. One of the biggest issues with Pearl at the moment is that it doesn't get much attention. For such a large, and I'd say the finest, nightclub in Waterloo, I was surprised to find a lack of people there. Mind you it was a Friday night and I hear Saturday is the night to go. I did miss some details in this review but unfortunately there's a character limit. I'll update when necessary.By Adam Bridges, July 30, 2016
